Prabowo Receives Visit from U.S. Special Operations Commander, Discusses Strengthening Partnership

PONTIANAKGLOBE.COM, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto hosted a visit from General Bryan P. Fenton, Commander of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and his delegation at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta on Thursday (August 22).

General Bryan P. Fenton was welcomed by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Defense M. Herindra with an honor guard. Following this, Prabowo engaged in discussions with General Fenton and his delegation in his office.

"Thank you for this honor visit. The United States, as a close friend of Indonesia, is expected to strengthen the partnership between our two countries," said Prabowo.

"Thank you for your time, Sir. It is a pleasure to meet and embrace you," General Bryan replied.

Previously, on November 13, 2023, in Washington DC, President Jokowi and U.S. President Joseph R. Biden agreed to elevate the bilateral relationship between the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

Thus, this meeting aligns with that agreement, particularly in enhancing the partnership, especially in the defense sector.

Indonesia is also looking forward to the Indonesia-U.S. Security Dialogue scheduled for October.

This dialogue will serve as an important platform to deepen bilateral security cooperation and address joint challenges to enhance regional stability and foster mutual understanding. ***
